Michael has been a Counselor, Coach, Social Worker, Community Organizer, Educator, Writer, and Reiki Master for over twenty-five years. He promotes peace, integrity, and safety through Counseling, Reiki, Movement, Meditation, and as a Conscious Dance Host and DJ. Along with his Private Practice, Michael is the Program Manager at Dance New England, a volunteer-centered non-profit that hosts dance events cultivating a vibrant multi-generational community. Michael has received training from H.H. the Dalai Lama, The Gottman Institute, and other revered Teachers and Healers. He is an Ordained Minister of Natural Healing from The Seminary Training Program. Michael has been clean and sober since 1989 and practices Meditation, Reiki, Yoga, and Dance/Movement daily.
Ellen Santaniello (she/her) is a licensed, holistic psychotherapist based in Rhode Island with specialties in Internal Family Systems and transpersonal work. She's had a 40 year international performing career as a singer and percussionist in an unusually diverse range of musical styles, and is a student of Andean shamanism, Himalayan tantra, and other body-based mystical practices.

The Healing Apprenticeship is an amazing week-long Intensive at the beautiful Goddess Garden Retreat Center, Cahuita, Costa Rica, January 13-20, 2024.
Is it time for you to break through the obstacles that prevent you from sustainably being yourself in all the beautiful and not-so-beautiful ways?
Have you had enough of the same obstacles showing up again and again, no matter how long you are in Therapy, practice Meditation, Yoga, or other Spiritual practices?
Imagine a week of Healing through Meditation, Reiki, Connection, and Movement by the Caribbean Sea on the outskirts of a tropical forest. Birds, Howler Monkeys, Sloths, and the resident dogs and cats are all part of our collective journey. We will be nourished with delicious yummy meals (mostly vegetarian), the on-site pool, walking trails, The Goddess Tree, and the beach.
Our days will consist of simple movement to start the day, Spiritual Teachings in the morning, Reiki Training and practice in the afternoons, Teachings, and Movement/Dance at night.
Meditation, Yoga, Qi Gong, or similar reflective/grounding practices are preferred.
Each morning we will have a brief movement or breathing practice before breakfast to connect and be present. We will alternate throughout the week to offer different methods and perspectives.
Our mornings will include basic Spiritual Teachings, practices, and meditations supporting our Connection to Self, Connections to other’s Higher Selves, Building a Living, Working Faith and a system for Grounding & Centering in the body, Balancing energy centers, and distant Vibrational Healing. The morning Teachings and practice are intense.
Each participant will receive all of the First and Second Degree Reiki Attunements, training, and practice during our retreat as a Certified Second Degree Reiki Practitioner in the Usui Reiki Lineage. Previous Reiki experience is not necessary.
Our nights will include Teachings to supplement the work we have been doing all day, followed by movement and dance to music from DJ Mystical, shaking loose anything not needed, and keeping our energy and bodies at an optimum level.
What is Conscious Dance?
There will be free time each day for relaxation and reflection. We will also visit Cahuita National Park on Friday afternoon!

Trip cancellation due to COVID-19

Your transformational journey in Costa Rica begins when you land at Juan Santamaría International Airport, where a seamless group transfer awaits to whisk you away to our sanctuary, The Goddess Garden Eco Resort. Once settled, take a moment to breathe, explore, and immerse yourself in the lush surroundings during your free time.
As the sun dips below the horizon, gather with kindred spirits in our opening circle, grounding our intentions and connection to this special place. Conclude your day with a sumptuous welcome dinner, celebrating the beginning of our collective journey to inner harmony. Welcome to paradise!

Begin your Reiki training and strengthen the connection to your higher self
Awaken your senses and spirit in the serene landscapes of Costa Rica with our morning movement and meditation sessions. A nourishing breakfast follows, setting the tone for a day of introspection and learning. Next, dive deep into creating group agreements and delve into foundational teachings on connecting with your higher self. After a delightful lunch, enjoy some free time to relax and integrate.
As the afternoon unfolds, continue on your transformative journey with Reiki training and receive your first attunements. From here, a scrumptious dinner awaits.
The day culminates in a tapestry of breathing exercises, graceful movements, and the enchanting rhythms of music, where you can release what no longer serves you and focus solely on your inner landscape.
