-Your adventure begins as you touch down at San José International Airport, where the group gathers for a scenic transfer into the heart of Costa Rica’s Talamanca Mountains. Nestled in the lush valley of the Savegre River, San Gerardo de Dota is a hidden gem renowned for its pristine cloud forests, vibrant biodiversity, and commitment to sustainable tourism.

-After check-in, unwind with a welcome dinner, your first taste of local hospitality and a preview of the region’s dedication to fresh, sustainable cuisine. The evening is yours to relax, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and anticipate the wonders ahead.

Wings of the highlands

-Rise early for a magical birdwatching experience in one of the world’s premier avian hotspots. With over 170 species recorded, San Gerardo de Dota is a sanctuary for bird enthusiasts, offering chances to spot the legendary resplendent quetzal, emerald toucanet, and myriad hummingbirds as you wander misty forest trails.

-Next, travel to Copey de Dota for a farm-to-table lunch at Al Mercat, where you’ll savor dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients, a delicious expression of the region’s sustainable ethos.

-The afternoon is free for you to explore or simply soak in the serene surroundings at your own pace.

Day 3 · April 3, 2026
Waterfall wonders and jungle retreats

-After breakfast and checkout, the journey continues with a jungle tractor ride to the spectacular Nauyaca Waterfalls, one of Costa Rica’s most impressive natural sights. The double-tiered falls cascade into crystal-clear pools, perfect for swimming, relaxing, or even taking a leap for the bold.

-Later, we’ll head to our next accommodation. Towards the end, enjoy a 4x4 transfer taking us deeper into the wild.

-Settle in for a hearty dinner and a restful night surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.

Living the rural dream

-Awaken to the calls of tropical birds and enjoy a guided nature walk through the rainforest, where hanging bridges, hidden waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints await. The lodge, built and operated by local families, is a model of sustainable rural tourism and environmental stewardship.

-For lunch, join a Costa Rican cooking class and learn to prepare traditional dishes, an interactive way to connect with local culture and flavors.

-The afternoon brings time to relax or swim in jungle pools and waterfalls, capping off a day that blends adventure, sustainability, and authentic rural life.

Mangrove mysteries

-After breakfast and checkout, embark on a journey to Damas Island, home to one of Costa Rica’s most vital mangrove ecosystems. Glide through winding waterways on a guided boat tour, spotting monkeys, crocodiles, and a dazzling array of birds. We will hold your spot as soon as you put down your deposit. However, if you decide to cancel your trip, we will be unable to refund your deposit.

Refunds for balance payment
If you cancel your trip on or before Dec 27, 2025 at 11:59 PM local time (GMT -6), you will get a refund of the remaining balance. This may or may not include the deposit amount. See deposit refund section above.

If you cancel your trip from Dec 28, 2025 at 12:00 AM local time (GMT -6) onwards, no refunds will be issued.
