Hi there, I’m Luis — a lifelong traveler, professional surfer, and experience curator. I designed this Costa Rica adventure with one thing in mind: the magic that happens when good waves, great people, and new places come together. This trip is all about connecting through surf, immersing ourselves in local culture, and making memories that last way beyond the shoreline. If you're craving sun, salt, and shared stoke with like-minded travelers, I’d be stoked to have you join me.

Costa Rica > Surf’s Up in Nosara: Becoming One With the Waves in Costa Rica with Luis

Calling all surfers! Saltwater hangs in the air and the sound of breaking waves becomes your daily soundtrack as you dive into the waves in Nosara on this six-day adventure. Each morning brings a new chance to paddle out at Playa Guiones, a world-class break that will help you develop new skills and will grow your love for the sport. Between surf sessions, stay active by kayaking through mangrove tunnels, chasing the Mala Noche Waterfall hidden in the jungle, and riding ATVs to San Juanillo Beach where snorkeling and fresh coconuts await. A sunset catamaran cruise, plenty of wildlife encounters, and a kayaking and paddleboarding tour along the Montaña River fills your days, and the pura vida spirit infuses every moment with energy and connection. Disconnect from the world and reconnect with yourself and the water - ride the wave to Costa Rica!

Headed to Nosara for some surfing

Hang loose! Upon arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) meet up with your group for a scenic five-hour transfer to Nosara, the laid-back surf haven on Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. This region is famed for its long stretches of white sand, palm-fringed beaches, and a strong sense of community among surfers and yogis alike. After you check into your surf-themed hotel, settle into the rhythm of Nosara, where the jungle meets the sea and the pace of life instantly slows. Free time lets you unwind, explore, or catch your first glimpse of Playa Guiones, consistently ranked among the world’s top surfing beaches for its clean, plentiful waves and unspoiled beauty.

Day 2 · March 10, 2026
Surf lessons and mangrove mayhem

Fuel up with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before gearing up for your first private surf lesson at Playa Guiones, led by experienced instructors from The Gilded Iguana Surf School. Let the consistent, flowing waves make this the perfect place to learn. Later, trade your board for a paddle and embark on a mangrove stand-up paddle or kayak tour along the Montaña River. Glide through lush mangrove tunnels, spot local wildlife, and pause at a hidden stretch of Nosara Beach for fresh fruit and coconut water. Have a front-row seat to the region’s rich biodiversity and natural beauty. Afterwards, return to your hotel for some rest and relaxation and time to catch the sunset at the beach.

Day 3 · March 11, 2026
Costa Rica’s wild nature

Eat some delicious breakfast at the hotel before continuing your surf journey with another lesson where you’ll learn to build confidence and connection in the ocean. Once the afternoon rolls around, set off on a wildlife and waterfall adventure hike to Mala Noche Waterfall, a hidden gem surrounded by lush greenery. You’ll feel the gentle trail winds along the river as your guide shares insights into native plants and local ecology. Upon arrival at the waterfall, cool off with a swim in the clear natural pool or explore the smaller waterfalls nearby—an off-the-beaten-path adventure that captures Costa Rica’s wild spirit. At the end of the day, return to the hotel for some free time to get up to whatever your heart desires in the natural beauty of Nosara.

Day 4 · March 12, 2026
Off-road escapes

After breakfast and a morning surf session, it’s time for an adrenaline rush with an ATV tour to San Juanillo Beach, a picturesque bay in a charming fishing village. The journey itself is part of the thrill, as you navigate rugged dirt roads, cross small rivers, and take in panoramic views of the coastline. At San Juanillo Beach, snorkel in calm, clear waters, swim, or simply relax on the sand with a fresh coconut in hand. This day will truly tap into the laid-back lifestyle that defines Nosara. End the day with some free time to explore Nosara in whatever way you choose - nature is calling.

Day 5 · March 13, 2026
A perfect sunset sendoff

Start your day with breakfast and then embark on a final private lesson at Playa Guiones, celebrating the skills and confidence you’ve gained throughout the week. In the afternoon, set sail from Playa Garza on a magical sunset catamaran tour. Board a small boat to reach the main catamaran, where you’ll enjoy a welcome drink, swim and snorkel in crystal-clear waters, and feast on a buffet of healthy Costa Rican cuisine prepared by a local chef. As the sun dips below the horizon, the catamaran anchors at the perfect spot to witness one of Guanacaste’s legendary sunsets—a breathtaking finale to your Costa Rican adventure. Return back to the hotel with memories of the mesmerizing sunset and new surfing techniques under your belt.

Day 6 · March 14, 2026
Saying goodbye to a surfing paradise

Start the day with a final breakfast before checking out of your hotel and boarding your private transfer back to San José.
