Refunds for fully-paid trips
You may change or cancel your trip by May 21, 2024, for a refund, excluding the deposit. After this date, no refunds will be given. You can change or cancel your trip in your TourHero account by clicking on Your Trips.You may transfer your spot
At any point until June 20, 2024, you may choose to transfer your spot to another traveler. The price will reflect the current selling price of the trip at the time of transfer. Day 1 · August 30, 2024

Touch down in San Juan, the Jewel of the Caribbean

Welcome to the vibrant jewel of the Caribbean, San Juan, where historic cobblestone streets wind through colorful colonial architecture. Hear the rhythmic beats of salsa music fill the air, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of joy and celebration. For the next six days, you'll get to dive into San Juan's azure waters, savor flavorful cuisine, and immerse yourself in the rich culture of this tropical paradise. As soon as you land, you'll be greeted by your local guides and driver who will make you feel at home as you uncover hidden gems in this dazzling city. Hop on a group transfer and be whisked away to your luxurious accommodation.

After checking in, kick back your feet and relax after your long travels. For the remainder of the day, feel free to spend it however you want. Take a dip at the hotel pool, sink into the soft bed in your room, or go check out the neighborhood. When the sun begins to set, we will gather for our first dinner together. As we dig into the finely prepared food, we will get to know each other and get each other excited for the travels ahead.

Day 2 · August 31, 2024

Discover the stories written on the walls of Old San Juan

Good morning, intrepid travelers. Today, we will discover why the Old San Juan is nicknamed the 'Walled City' on a walking experience. Start the day with a hearty breakfast meal. After breakfast, we will make our way on a group transfer to the storied grounds of Old San Juan. At the legendary location, you will go back in time and discover five centuries of fascinating history, culture, and heritage among the cobblestone streets of this charming city. This tour is a journey through the picturesque district, whose streets and passageways rest among art galleries, eye-catching shopping malls, and cozy cafes.

During the tour, you will come to appreciate the historical sites that remind visitors of Old San Juan's era as a Spanish colony. Fort San Cristobal, the Executive Mansion La Fortaleza, the legendary San Juan Cathedral, the Plaza de Armas, the Chapel of Christ, and the San Francisco Church are among the sites that we will visit. An English-speaking guide will accompany us all throughout the tour to bring the stories behind each cobblestone to life.

After feeding our intellectual curiosities, after the tour, stop for a local lunch. The rest of the day will be like a blank canvas for you to fill in any way you please. Enjoy the beauty of San Juan.

Day 3 · September 1, 2024

Take a bite of history

Wake up to a sense of freedom in the enchanting city of San Juan. Start with a savory breakfast spread. After the meal, take it easy and soak in the simple pleasure of being under the warm embrace of the sun.

Feel like digging your toes in the sand and soaking into the refreshing waters of the Caribbean? Head to the beach and get those vitamin Ds. We will stop for some tandem Kayaking with your partner. The rest of the day is kept free for you to enjoy the city at your leisure. Can't get enough of how colorful San Juan is? Get out there, urban explorers! Whatever it is, San Juan has something for everyone.

In the evening, the group will come together for a truly unforgettable evening of mind-blowing culinary adventure. As the sun dips below the horizon, at Princesa Cocina Cultura. The restaurant is surrounded by leafy trees and located right next to the city walls. Over the course of the evening, you'll be treated to Puerto Rican specialties rescued from an old 19th-century cookbook. Allow the tantalizing flavors of Puerto Rico to transport you back in time, the history of San Juan's defense walls coming to life right on the tip of your tongue.

Day 4 · September 2, 2024

Experience the natural wonders of Puerto Rico

Today, we shift gears. After spending the past days immersed in the vibrant city, we head to the great outdoors on the fourth day to enjoy the crispness of the fresh air at Caribbean National Rainforest. Fuel up for the day over breakfast, each bite adding to the anticipation for the adventure that awaits. After the meal, we hop on a group transfer and head to the El Yunque Rainforest, the only tropical forest in the United States National Forest System. Many of the views you will see are the same ones that dazzled the first Spanish explorers over 500 years ago. You will see thousand-year-old trees towering upwards, exotic rainbow-colored flowers that jump out amidst the sea of green, and thick vines with large masses of red flowers swaying in the cool breeze. From the heart of this impressive beauty, you will hear the incessant, yet delightful, two-note song of the 'Coquí'. The unique species is joined by other tropical birds and possibly the quacking of the endangered Puerto Rican parrot in nature's symphony.

From the lush rainforest, we continue our excursion at Balneario La Monserrate Luquillo Beach, considered one of the best and most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico. It is located very close to San Juan and the entrance of El Yunque National Rainforest. Its shoreline extends as far as the eye can see, and its waters are calm and crystalline. The sand welcomes you with its soft touch. Rest under the shade of a palm tree that lines the shoreline. At lunchtime, take your pick from the numerous local restaurants (not included). No matter what you choose, you will surely be satisfied by the variety of good quality seafood and fried delights.

We return in the evening to the comfort of our home away from home in San Juan, completing our fulfilling day out with a delectable dinner (not included) before resting for the night.

Day 5 · September 3, 2024

Taste the grounds of Puerto Rico

As the genial morning sun over Puerto Rico nudges you awake, get nourished with a delectable breakfast spread. The end of our Puerto Rican explorations is near, but not yet!

Today, we embark on a journey to discover the origins of Puerto Rican Coffee and how it captivates our taste buds every time. After the morning meal, board a group transfer to Hacienda Muñoz in San Lorenzo. Hacienda Muñoz is home to Café Hacienda Muñoz, a three-time winner of the Best Coffee People's Choice Award at the Coffee and Chocolate Expo. This coffee plantation offers a walking tour that introduces you to the history of coffee in Puerto Rico. Get acquainted with the process of coffee bean harvesting and toasting. At the end of it, you will get to taste an authentic and aromatic cup of Puerto Rican coffee, specially prepared by a barista. You can even bring home some beans!

After the tour, grab a tasty lunch (not included) before heading back to San Juan. As the day slowly comes to a close, gather with the group for one last meal together before you head home. Let your hair down, celebrate the good times you've had together, and have fun!

Bid adieu to San Juan

As we bid farewell to San Juan, our hearts are heavy with the memories of the vibrant streets, the sun-soaked beaches, and the rich culture that has embraced us during our journey. We've explored the historic forts, savored the flavors of local cuisine, and reveled in the warm hospitality of this captivating city. Today, we indulge in one last breakfast, taking the time to reflect on the beautiful moments we've shared. After we check out of our accommodation, a group transfer will usher us to the airport for our flight. Although we leave with nostalgia in our hearts, the excitement of our next adventure awaits, promising that the memories of San Juan will forever hold a special place in our travel tales.
