Into the wild: journey to San Ignacio and venture into the depths of the Belizean jungle

Welcome to Belize, where your adventure begins the moment you step off the plane! Your driver awaits to whisk you away on a two-hour journey into the heart and soul of the Cayo District to San Ignacio. This vibrant hub for ecotourism is where all roads and activities converge, offering you a gateway to the best of western Belize's top attractions.

Your home for the night is a resort set amidst the jungle, where you'll be immersed in the lush beauty of Belizean wilderness. Revel in the joy of being surrounded by nature's wonders! As you get settled in, drop your bags, mingle with your fellow travel companions, and enjoy some freedom to explore your surroundings. As evening descends, come together for a fantastic welcome dinner to celebrate the start of an amazing journey in Belize! This welcome dinner will include a starter, main course, and dessert, as well as a non-alcoholic beverage (either juice or soda).

Day 2 · August 31, 2024

Exploring the enigmatic: canoe deep into the mysterious Barton Creek Cave and discover the ancient Xunantunich

Good morning, adventurers! After fueling up with a delicious breakfast, it's time to kick off our day with an exciting excursion. We'll delve into the Mayan underworld as we explore the awe-inspiring Barton Creek Cave! A river runs through this unique cave and the only way to explore it is by canoe. To reach the entrance of the cave, we will drive about forty minutes, journeying through the foothills of the Maya Mountains and the Amish Community. Once there, your guide will provide life jackets and helmets, as well as prepare your canoes and lights for the excursion. As you drift slowly through the darkness with headlamps and flashlights, your guide will share stories and highlight unique geological features.

The adventure doesn't stop there! After the Barton Creek tour, we'll take you to have lunch in the village of San Jose Succot, conveniently located near Xunantunich. Then, we'll cross the Mopan River using a hand-cranked ferry. Xunantunich, the largest ceremonial center in the Belize River Valley, is situated on a natural limestone ridge that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from its hilltop location. The green crystalline waters of the Mopan River separate us from this magnificent site.

As you tour the ceremonial center, a knowledgeable guide will provide a comprehensive history of the Maya people as they walk you through the site. You'll get the chance to climb the 140-foot-high 'El Castillo', offering a breathtaking 360-degree view over the forest treetops of Western Belize and into Guatemala. After the tour, you'll be driven back to the hotel.

Day 3 · September 1, 2024

Discover the secrets of the Actun Tunichil Muknal cave (ATM Cave)

Rise and shine! After an energizing breakfast this morning, it's time to head out on another special excursion. Today, we're checking out the Actun Tunichil Muknal cave (ATM Cave). One of the finest examples of Mayan ritual caves ever discovered, the cave network holds priceless artifacts and the skeletal remains of those sacrificed. The tour includes snacks, lunch, a guide, and equipment that you'll need to navigate the cave (life vest, helmet with light).

Day 4 · September 2, 2024

Make your way to San Pedro Island for some stunning tropical vibes

We've had some incredible experiences in San Ignacio, but it's time to make our way to our next destination: San Pedro Island! San Pedro Island, the largest and most beloved island in Belize, is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the Belize Barrier Reef, the most extensive reef system in the northern hemisphere. This destination offers a wide range of experiences for adventurers and relaxation seekers alike.

After checking out of our hotel, we'll transfer to the water taxi station in Belize City where we'll catch a ride to the island (not included in price; round trip cost is $57 + a $2 tax).

Upon your arrival, minivans will transfer your luggage to the hotel, while your group will enjoy a nice walk through the beach to get to the hotel. The rest of the day will then be at leisure. As you gaze out over the clear turquoise sea and swaying coconut palms, you'll know that you've truly arrived in paradise. Enjoy!

Day 5 · September 3, 2024

Head out on a private catamaran excursion

Today, after breakfast, you'll be embarking on a private catamaran day trip! You'll be transferred to the catamaran after breakfast, and you'll embark on a thrilling marine adventure to visit various sites: Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley and Caye Caulker. The tour begins with a snorkeling adventure at Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley. Hol Chan is home to a wide variety of species and Shark Ray Alley is a paradise for nurse sharks and stingrays. You can choose to observe them from the boat or swim alongside them! Next, enjoy a Belizean buffet lunch on the catamaran, which will include traditional dishes such as stewed chicken, rice and beans, and BBQ fish. After lunch, we'll stop at Caye Caulker Island for approximately one hour, giving you free time to explore the island. Finally, we'll cruise back at sunset and return to San Pedro, with delicious ceviche highlighting the journey. The tour includes an open bar with local rum, vodka, gin, soft drinks, and juices.

Day 6 · September 4, 2024

Explore San Pedro with a scenic golf cart drive

It's officially your last full day in Belize! Like yesterday, you'll be having fun in the sun — this time, you'll be taken on a scenic golf cart drive to the northern part of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, to Secret Beach, where you'll have a fun day of swimming and relaxation. Most places here accept credit cards, but we advise you to bring along some cash if you will be making some small purchases.

In the evening, we will gather for a farewell dinner where we will celebrate the memories we've shared and the fun we've had. The dinner will take place at Elvi’s Kitchen, and will include a starter, main course, and dessert, as well as a non-alcoholic beverage (either juice or soda). Toast to Belize!

Day 7 · September 5, 2024

It’s time to say goodbye to Belize and head home

We've come to the final day of your adventure in Belize — we hope you have had an epic journey! After one last breakfast this morning, it’s time to leave the hotel behind. We'll ride golf carts back to the water taxi station to sail back to Belize City where we will transfer to the airport so that you can begin your journey back home.
