¡Bienvenidos a Puerto Rico! It’s great to have you with us on our fantastic Caribbean island, where the beaches are glorious and the forested mountains are enchanting. Once you’ve arrived at the airport in San Juan, we’ll whisk you away to the laid-back town of Luquillo where you’ll be spending the next few nights. Sandwiched between the El Yunque National Forest and the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, this charming seaside getaway offers visitors a gorgeous stretch of spectacular coastline. A haven for surfers, sun-worshippers, and snorkelers! After checking into your accommodation, head over to Boardriders Surf Bar & Grill to enjoy a welcome beer as you celebrate the start of your epic Puerto Rican break with your friends! Enjoy good vibes, live music, and sparkling ocean views!
After an energizing breakfast, you’ll have some free time to spend as you please this morning. Explore Luquillo at your leisure, do a few island activities, or spend a few hours relaxing by the beach to work on your tan — you decide! Then, at around 5 pm, we’ll head to the Fajardo BioBay to paddle through one of the world’s brightest bioluminescent bays in kayaks! This adventurous group tour takes us through a mangrove forest with protected fauna. The waters here are filled with microscopic, single-celled organisms (dinoflagellates) that produce a “glow-in-the-dark” effect when stimulated by movement. When you paddle or splash the water, these organisms light up brilliantly in spectacular shades of neon blue-green! You will also get to observe and learn about the constellations at night.
Luquillo’s delightful outdoor appeal extends beyond its soft golden sands and gleaming turquoise waters. Right outside its borders, you’ll find the incredible El Yunque National Forest. This lush, mountainous rainforest is the sole tropical rainforest that’s part of the U.S. National Forest System. Here, the peaks of the Luquillo Mountain Range soar up to 3,525 feet above sea level. Today, we’ll embark on a wonderful hike through its most easily accessible trails, accompanied by our eco-minded tour guide who’ll bring us through the mountainous terrain to discover waterfalls, spectacular coastal views, and natural dipping pools in the heart of nature.
Get ready for the thrill of your life. Today, we’re headed inland to the Toro Verde Adventure Park, located in the town of Orocovis, about an hour and 55 minutes from Luquillo. This is a place hidden in the rolling forest-covered peaks of Puerto Rico’s Central Mountain Range. Here, it’s all about adrenaline-pumping adventure as you take to the skies on ziplines. Two super-long ziplines — The Beast (1.5 kilometers) and The Monster (2.5 kilometers, the second-longest zipline in the world!) — will ensure unparalleled excitement! Paired with the best mountain views anywhere on the island, this is an experience you won’t soon forget!
How time flies! We hope you’ve enjoyed your time in Luquillo. After checking out of your accommodation, head to the airport in time to catch your flight home. Until next time — we hope to see you again soon!
