Hi! My name's Farah and I'm a huge foodie! I love traveling to new places to expand my palate and discover new cuisines, new cultures, and new people! I'm pretty daring with my food choices and I've eaten my way through 10 different countries. I hope to include Mexico soon! I've planned this trip because Mexico City has been on my bucket list for so long — if you want to see if authentic al pastor tacos are as good as they say they are in Mexico, come along with me!
Calling all foodies! This trip to Mexico City is one for the books, featuring multiple guided food tours and bar crawls with local experts to show you the right places to go. These gastronomy experiences will change the way you think about Mexican food as you try al pastor tacos right off the spit and sip on small-batch mezcal from local distilleries. Mix these cantina tours with cultural fun as you explore historic downtown with a preplanned travel diary and float through the canals of the Xochimilco on iconic trajineras. With free time to check out the Teotihuacan ruins and national museums, you’ll return home with a new appreciation for Aztec history and Mexican culture.
We’re thrilled to have you here in Mexico’s capital and largest city! This vibrant location is home to innovative gastronomy, diverse art, and ancient history at every turn. Once you arrive, check into Casa Pepe, grab a cold drink, and let the fun begin! Take a stroll around the city or freshen up for a night of authentic food and budding friendships, as we head to the neighborhood of Narvarte. This middle-class area has kept its charm with family-style taquerias on every street. We’ll taste some of the best al pastor tacos in the city served from an outdoor roasting spit, toast our chelas (cold beers) to a stellar trip, and meet with a local chef who will take us through a small-batch mezcal tasting. Enjoy the night before you head back to the hostel and rest up for another day of culture and culinary joy.
Rise and shine, travelers! After a hearty breakfast at the hostel, take a self-guided tour of the historic center of Mexico City with a preplanned travel diary. Explore the area at your own pace and stop to smell the roses (or tacos) along the way. If you’re looking for support, ask us for help, and we can place you with a local guide who can keep you on course to see it all. Head back to the hostel and get ready for a night featuring three renowned cantinas. We’ll start at a famous taqueria where we’ll sample all the authentic flavors of the area. Next, we’ll head to a historic cantina for chelas and learn more about the cultural depth of Mexican food and drink. We’ll finish out the night at a cozy hotspot for mezcal tasting led by a local expert and try pulque, a traditional drink made from the fermented sap of the maguey plant. Night two is sure to impress, so get ready your tastebuds ready for this cultural exhibition!
Today you can wake up at your own pace and explore Mexico city as you please. Consider spending time at the anthropology museum, take a bike tour through the ruins of Teotihuacan, or tour the famous neighborhood of Coyoacán. You can eat your way through downtown or shop til’ you drop at the local markets. No matter the adventure you choose, you’re sure to have a blast in this cultural epicenter!
Good morning and welcome to another day of food and culture in this virbrant city! Grab a quick breakfast and head to the canals of Xochimilco where we’ll travel through the city into the lush jungle foliage by trajinera, large wooden boats decorated with a Mexican flare. These waterways are the last remnants of the rivers that once crossed the valley floors of Tenochtitlan aka modern-day Mexico City. Not only will you see the city from a new perspective, you’ll learn about the Aztec harvesting techniques that are still used today. After this voyage into history, enjoy one final night of food and mezcal with your new friends.
Who can believe the trip is already over? Enjoy one final breakfast at the hostel, say your goodbyes to new friends, and take your private transfer to the airport. Head home with a head full of memories and a heart full of joy. Until next time, be well!
