International Travel

Restrictions apply for inbound and outbound travel. See below for more details.

Inbound Travel: Who can travel into the Netherlands?

Travelers from the EU and Schengen area countries may enter the Netherlands for leisure, provided they abide by Dutch safety regulations. Travelers arriving from the United Kingdom and Sweden are advised to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Until July 1, 2020, the Netherlands country borders remain closed to travelers from outside Europe, except in the case of essential travel.

Outbound Travel: Who can travel out of the Netherlands?

From June 16, 2020, holiday travel to several countries within the EU and Schengen area countries is possible. An advisory on which countries are safe for outbound travel is provided here. Travel to countries with an orange or red travel advisory is discouraged.

Visa & Quarantine Measures

There is currently no quarantine obligation for travelers entering the Netherlands. However, travelers from high-risk areas are strongly advised to self-quarantine for 14 days at their place of accommodation.

For the most up-to-date information on the COVID-19 situation in the country, refer to the Netherlands Government.

Domestic Travel

Domestic travel within the Netherlands is allowed. The following health and safety guidelines should be abided:

  • Travel to crowded tourist hotspots is discouraged.
  • Social distancing measures are in place. Keep at least 1.5 meters away from others.
  • Campsites, hotels, and holiday parks are open. Guests must still adhere to social distancing measures.
  • Avoid non-essential travel on public transport. If you are over the age of 13, non-medical face masks should be worn when traveling on public transport.
