Its massive size at 19 miles long and azure color make it easy to see why this glacier was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can simply visit the park and walk the boardwalk along the edge of the lake, marveling at its size and taking as many pictures as your camera can hold from the viewing platforms. Historians believe these cave paintings were created between 9,000 and 13,000 years ago, telling the story of what is assumed to be hunter-gatherer communities that lived and thrived on these lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main attraction here? The stenciled outlines of hands, shown with the backdrop of reds, browns, and oranges. You&#8217;ll also find animals and hunting scenes depicted on the walls, too. The paintings were created using mineral pigments, such as iron oxides for red and manganese oxide for black to name a few. Over a million penguins come to this area each year to breed!
