Day 1
Arrive on the stunning island of Vieques and enjoy a round of drinks at a local bar!

¡Bienvenidos a Puerto Rico! We are so glad to have you with us on the stunning island of Vieques, where the scenery is breathtaking and the atmosphere brings to life the laid-back tropical getaway of your dreams. Vieques is located just six miles off the east coast of the Puerto Rico mainland and is home to wild horses, gloriously secluded beaches, the pristine Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, and the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay. Once you arrive, catch a taxi to your accommodation, located in the vibrant Esperanza neighborhood. After checking in, head over to Lazy Jack’s, the island’s go-to sports bar and live music venue! Depending on what day it is, you can play at an open jam session, grab a bite to eat, or dance the night away during the Saturday night dance party. Tonight, enjoy a welcome beer as you celebrate the start of your epic Vieques break with your friends!

Day 2
Embark on a kayaking tour at Bahia Mosquito, one of the world’s brightest bioluminescent bays

After an energizing breakfast, you’ll have some free time to spend as you please this morning. Explore the island at your leisure, do a few island activities, or spend a few hours relaxing by the beach to work on your tan — you decide! Then, at around 5 pm, we’ll walk down to the water and hop into our tandem clear-bottom kayaks to depart for the Bahia Mosquito BioBay. This adventurous group tour takes us through a mangrove forest with protected fauna. The waters here are filled with microscopic, single-celled organisms (dinoflagellates) that produce a “glow-in-the-dark” effect when stimulated by movement. When you paddle or splash the water, these organisms light up brilliantly in spectacular shades of neon blue-green. Vieques locals claim that this magnificent bay has the highest concentration of phosphorescent dinoflagellates, not only in Puerto Rico, but in the world!

Day 3
Ride around Vieques on bicycles for the most epic self-explore tour of the island

Good morning! After a hearty breakfast, pick up your rental bike — you’re off on a cycling adventure around Vieques! We’ll arm you with a map and some great tips on the best bike trails so you can go almost anywhere you wish! This is an adventurous yet relaxing way to explore the island’s untouched natural landscapes and ecosystems. There are so many wonderful trails that bring you to remote spots that taxis and cars cannot get to. On the northwest side, explore multiple single-track horse trails, abandoned military bunkers, historical sugar plantation ruins, the Ceiba tree, and the Kiani Lagoon. On the south side, discover the Eastern National Wildlife Refuge, an excellent way to see all the beaches in that area. The terrain is half-paved, half-gravel, and mostly flat with rolling hills. After exploring the beaches, ride to Esperanza to catch the sunset, or continue west to collect a souvenir of magnetic sand from Black Sand Beach. Note: Bike rental includes a helmet, a lock, and a trail repair kit. This is a self-explore tour — you will have the bike for 48 hours.

Day 4
Have a splashing good time on a snorkeling tour

After an enjoyable breakfast, walk or ride to the departure point for our snorkeling tour. At 10 am, we’ll start off along the shores of the gorgeous La Chiva in our kayaks and take a 10-minute paddle to a nearby island. Once there, we’ll anchor our kayaks and explore the marine life in the clear waters that surround the coral reefs. Our experienced guides will teach you all about the marine ecosystem here and point out all the unique fish and corals that you’ll see! Many sea turtles and rays can be spotted on this tour — keep an eye out! Note: You will be provided with a mask, snorkel, fins, and life vest. At the end of the day, drop off your rental bike.

Day 5
Time to bid farewell to Vieques

How time flies! We hope you’ve enjoyed your time on the spectacular island of Vieques. After checking out of your accommodation, make your own way to the airport in time to catch your flight home. Until next time — we hope to see you again soon!

Geraldine planned my whole experience in the West of Puerto Rico with a lot of care and attention to detail. Our trip was action packed with beautiful waterfalls and beaches, local eats and Puerto Rican tradition. Despite all of our activity, we still had plenty of time for leisure, thanks Geraldine’s itinerary. I highly recommend that you hand over all your trip planning for Puerto Rico to Geraldine and let her work her magic. You will not be disappointed.

Our trip to Puerto Rico (11 days) was truly a wonderful experience. We are very grateful to Oh La La Travel that made it happen seamlessly. Geraldine was great. After giving her our initial request and speaking with her on the phone, she designed a trip custom to what our interests were. She was always easy to reach and prompt to answer any questions before and during our trip. The guides and activities she picked for us were wonderful. We absolutely recommend their travel service and we would work with them again.
