Japan has a short summer season, falling between July and September, but these months also bring muggy weather and overcast skies. The higher temperatures make for great beach and pool weather, but many flock to the country during this time to hike and enjoy the natural landscapes of the country.
The winter months fall between November and March, bringing cold temperatures. However, during this time of year, the skies are clear, providing sunny days and limited precipitation.
The best time to visit Japan is during the spring (March to May) and fall (September to November). The temperatures are relatively mild and the cherry blossoms tend to bloom from late March to mid-April while spectacular fall foliage peaks around October, bringing people from all over the world.
If you enjoy the snow and trekking excursions, head to the northern regions of Japan from December through February for winter activities and a variety of festivals.
